Celebrate an early Mother’s Day with the special girls/women in your life!

Come for supper and then enjoy hours of creativity, inspiration and fun. Bless yourself and someone you love with this time to just be together.

The optional dinner is from 5:00-5:30pm.

Carol Sullivan will inspire us from 5:30-7:00pm with “My Prayer Book.” How would you like to create your own personal prayer book that could keep track of ALL of your prayer requests and so much more? This prayer book is easily compiled by you and easy to update and keep current. In this simple book, there will be space for prayers of praise, gratitude, petition, health requests, special holy cards, prayers particular to you and your life situation, etc. Your prayer book will be unique to you and will grow as you do. Join us for a very fun presentation on prayer along with creative time to make your personal book that you will use and treasure for years!  Minimum age is 8 years old. Material Fee is $5.

Then from 7-9pm Nancy Wensman will lead “Budding Artists.” Come and nurture your creative side while reflecting on Mary, the mother of Jesus, in this month that celebrates Mary and mothers! Artist Nancy Wensman will guide the beginner, as well as those more familiar with a brush and canvas, through the steps it takes to create a Faceless Madonna and Child painting. Every person who comes to visit the new Firstfruits home in Elm Grove comments on this painting. So we thought it would be nice to provide the opportunity to make one of your own. Don’t wear your Sunday best, things might get a little messy! Limited to 15 participants. Material Fee is $10.

We-Awareness Series: MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary
Jan 23 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Beginning January 23, 2020 Firstfruits will be offering interactive retreat days in solidarity with the marginalized in our community.

All are broken in some way. That brokenness is what we all have in common. In community we can seek to provide an avenue for the Holy Sprit to create Oneness and empowering compassion.

The day begins at 9:00am and ends at noon. It includes a presentation, dialogue, and optional lunch.

In the first of the series we welcome Sister MacCanon Brown and members of the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary community.

There is no cost for the day but we ask for a freewill offering to benefit the organization highlighted.

We will be collecting the following items for the Homeless Sanctuary wish list:

Women’s new socks (any size)
Deodorant
Bar Soap
Shampoo
Body and Hand lotions
Toothpaste and Toothbrushes
Throat lozenges
Vaseline
Kleenex
Hand Sanitizer
(Small or medium sized items are preferred over large. Hotel/motel room toiletries welcome.)

Mark your calendars for February 24, when we will welcome Franciscan Peacemakers for the second retreat day in our We-Awareness series.

When we connect marginalized people
with mainstreamed people of faith
it results in mutual transformation
and mutual holiness.

Food Drive and CARnival
Sep 13 @ 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

It’s time for our annual Firstfruits FUNraiser, but this year has to be different for everyone’s health and safety. With that in mind, and knowing the economic and spiritual hardship so many people are experiencing right now, we are holding a uniquely 2020 kind of event instead. Join us for a:

Food Drive and CARnival
Sunday, September 13th from 11am-2pm

Drive through the parking lot of the Village Court to donate food and household items to support the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary. In this crisis, it’s more important than ever to help each other in any way we can. The MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary offers a safe place and resources to widen the safety net for homeless and at-risk members of the Milwaukee community, and is asking for the following critical items:

●      Canned beef and chicken, Spam, tuna, spaghettiOs, mac & cheese, Dinty Moore Beef Stew, baked beans, vienna sausages

●      Fans, suitcases with wheels, essential hygiene products, hand sanitizer, cleaning products, toilet paper, and air conditioners

Monetary donations for the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary are also welcome at the event.

Learn more about their mission and work at their website: mbsanctuary.org

When you drive in to donate, keep a lookout for the Fun Lane that will take you through the Firstfruits CARnival! Any donation to Firstfruits, either online or in person, on September 13 gives you access to the FUN! From the comfort of your vehicle, you can play games, win prizes, and catch some of the fun spirit we all need this year. Please consider signing up for a time slot when you plan to roll through the CARnival, if your schedule allows.  Signing up isn’t required but will help us run things smoothly for you!

Visit our website at  firstfruits.info/support-firstfruits to support us and learn how to become a Friend of Firstfruits.

Hope to see you all! We will be there with smiles on (even under masks).
